Family Programs
CURWOOD FESTIVAL
5K/10K Run, 5K Walk, and 1 mile Fun Run
The most popular weekend of the year brings one of the largest YMCA events
to life. More than 400 people participated in the Shiawassee Family YMCA
Walk/Run during Curwood Festival last year and now it is your turn to show us
what you are made of. The starting line is located at the Chemical Bank South
Branch, 301 South Washington, and follows the river trail. Special awards will be
given for overall male, female and masters winners. Top three finishers in each
age group will receive medals. Fun Run participants receive a special medal.
Date: Saturday, June 5 5K/10K – 9:00 am Fun Run – 10:15 am
Entry Fee: Pre-Register – $10, w/shirt $17
Day of Race – $17, w/shirt $22
Fun Run – $3, w/shirt $8
Pre-Registration ends May 10.
Late Registrants are not guaranteed a shirt.
Registration Forms are available at the YMCA, Shiawassee Chamber of
Commerce office and the Curwood Festival office. Mail or bring registration
forms to the YMCA at 515 West Main Street, Owosso.
FAMILY FUN NIGHTS
The Shiawassee Family YMCA is dedicated to providing a safe, wholesome
and fun environment for families. Your entire family can be active, challenged,
involved and part of a larger community striving for the same goal – a healthy
spirit, mind and body. Join us and together we can grow strong kids, strong families

Healthy Kids Day

A cook out on the front lawn with family

Halloween at the YMCA
Dress the kids up and stop by the YMCA for a night filled with tricks, treats,

YMCA Healthy Kids Day
Saturday, April 17
12 noon to 2:00 pm
This is free, free, FREE to every person, young
and old! Please join us at the Shiawassee Family
YMCA as we celebrate programs that support the
healthy growth and development of kids. We will
have a petting zoo, egg hunt, snacks, bounce house
and so much more! Information will be available to
parents on issues vital to raising healthy kids and
various demonstrations will take place. This is a
fantastic FREE family event!
CAMP SHIAWASSEE CLEAN-UP DAY
Saturday, May 1, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
We need you! The Shiawassee Family YMCAis looking for volunteers to help
us make Camp Shiawassee in Bancroft spick and span just in time for all the
campers this summer. There will be opportunities for you to clean, landscape,
paint and so much more! Please call (989) 725-8136 to sign up your talent and
time. We appreciate all the help we can get!
CAMP SHIAWASSEE
Parent Orientation Nights
Parents are encouraged to attend one of the orientations prior to starting camp.
This is also a great opportunity if you would like to learn more about camp
before registering your child. All emergency forms, permission slips and parent
handbook will be reviewed at these meetings. Meetings are at the Shiawassee
Family YMCA.
