High School Memberships

Picture
The Shiawassee Family YMCA is now offering free memberships to high school students during Christmas Break (the full month of December) and Summer Break (June, July and August).
Any students interested in using the facility the other months of the year, may keep their membership active for just $10/month. For the price of two day passes, you can now use the facility for the entire month!

Things to know before you join:
  • Students must have a valid student ID with them when they join.
  • Open to high school (Grades 9-12) students in Shiawassee County (and surrounding areas).
  • A parent must come with you to sign up unless you are 18.
  • You must complete an orientation in order to use the weights and pin cable machines.
  • Youth ages 13-14 still need an adult with them to use weights and pin cable equipment after completing an orientation.
  • Parents have the option to give permission for their child to use the free weights and pin cable equipment without an orientation but this should be reserved for youth who are already very experienced using this equipment.
  • Orientations will be roughly 30 minutes and cover the rules of the weight rooms, basic information on using the equipment, where to find more details, and how to use the rooms safely. Students are encouraged to ask questions and let our staff know if there is something in particular they would like to see or spend extra time discussing. Orientations will be done in groups of no more than 4 students. Staff will be available for questions and assistance after the orientation is finished.
  • The locker room is NOT available to youth here on a High School Membership. *Ask us about Daily lockers available for use.
  • Students who have completed the orientation must wear a wristband while using the fitness center. *Available at the desk and should be returned when you leave.
  • Every student and parent will need to read the Code of Conduct and Weight Room Rules. Any behavior going against the Code and Rules could result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, loss of membership privileges.
